In May and June this year several ships (one of which in June was operated by a Japanese company) were attacked by unknown entities off Fujairah and in the Strait of Hormuz. This has triggered further increased tension between the U.S. and Iran and a sharp rise of war risk insurance premium for nearby areas. More recently the U.S. is proposing naval coalition to safeguard ships in relevant waters responses of other countries to this proposal are attracting international attention. In these circumstances Mr. Akiyoshi Ikeyama, Mr. Narabu Ito and Mr. Satoshi Fukamachi of our corporation prepared a paper to summarize their preliminary analysis on possible impacts on charterparties if the situation heats up more.
